Amanda + Craig – Emerald Lake Elopement
Once Amanda and Craig decided that they wanted to elope it all seemed to fall together so easily. Making the Rocky Mountains and beautiful green waters of Emerald Lake Lodge home for a few days just to themselves felt so right.
Emerald Lake is absolutely a must see if you are visiting the Canadian Rocky Mountains. A gem hidden out past the traditional stops of Banff and Lake Louise. Just up from the quaint town of Field, nestled amongst the mountains of Yoho National Park you will find Emerald Lake Lodge surrounded by a pristine aquamarine lake. Once you wade through the tourists at the entrance you truly enter into your own world on the other side of the island. Small cottages line the walkways and lone canoes drift off in the distance.
Amanda and Craig started the morning with the most laid back getting ready together, just enjoying the place they are in and one another’s company. As Craig got dressed, Amanda hung out in the bathroom, keeping their final looks truly secret until their first look that took place amongst the trees on the island. We then slowly made our way over to the ceremony location looking out onto the lake where we all celebrated with some champagne afterwards.
My favourite part about elopements is the true one on one time I get to spend with my couples, chatting like old friends and just soaking the day in. Because theres no true schedule we spent the rest of the day running around the lake, and piling into my SUV to make our way down the road to the Natural Bridge.
The Natural Bridge is an impressive force of nature that stretches over the Kicking Horse River. Sculpted by the erosive forces of the rushing water, all that remains is the hard limestone above. We happened to arrive at the same time as a tourist bus and you can always ensure you are the centre of attention in a big white dress. As Craig and Amanda crawled onto the bridge all eyes were on them and an on looker even asked me if this were for a magazine. Despite the attention somehow Amanda and Craig seemed to remain in their own little world all day. You can truly see the ease and love they have for one another when they look at each other.
Such an amazing day, such a beautiful place, such a perfect example of doing things your own way.
